i don't do Fwd(s): , but

I got this snippet of a book by William M. Thompson describing Lebanon in his 1870 book The Land and the Book

"Lebanon has about 400,000 inhabitants, gathered into more than six hundred towns,   villages and hamlets...The various religions and sects live together, and practice their  conflicting superstitions in close proximity, but the people do not coalesce into one homogeneous community, nor do they regard each other with fraternal feelings. The Sunnites excommunicate the Shiites - both hate the Druse, and all three detest the Nusairiyeh. The Maronites have no particular love for anybody and, in turn, are disliked by all. The Greeks cannot endure the Greek Catholics; all despise the Jews.

And the same remarks apply to the minor divisions of this land. There is no common bond of union. Society has no continuous strata underlying it, which can be opened and worked for the general benefit of all, but an endles s number of dislocated fragments, faults, and dikes, by which the masses are tilted up in hopeless confusion, and lie at every conceivable angle of antagonism to each other. The omnific Spirit that brooded over primeval chaos can alone bring order out of such confusion, and reduce these conflicting elements into peace and concord.

No other country in the world, I presume, has such a multiplicity of antagonistic races; and herein lies the greatest obstacle to any general and permanent amelioration and improvement of their condition, character, and prospects. They can never form one united people, never combine for any important religious or political purpose; and will therefore remain weak, incapable of self-government, and exposed to the invasions and oppressions of foreigners. Thus it has been, is now, and must long continue to be a people divided, meted out, and trodden down."

Nothing really changed since 1870, sad. Funny... where else could an 1870 piece be so contemporary in 2010?

12 Angry Lebanese

Rotaract sure misspelled their name, but i have to give 'em credit for screening 12 Angry Lebanese in Trablus. I hope someone comes to watch it, i'm going tonight.. heard it's good - we'll see (oh, and apparently i'm missing out on Beirut Jazz Fest because of this) it better be good.

Only for TLETEH screenings, hehe - come.

#censorship / #coercion - an [if you don't, then i will] approach

Censorship is the suppression of speech or other communication which may be considered objectionable, harmful, sensitive, or inconvenient to the general body of people as determined by a government, media outlet, or other controlling body.

Coercion (pronounced /koʊˈɜrʃən/) is the practice of forcing another party to behave in an involuntary manner (whether through action or inaction) by use of threats, intimidation or some other form of pressure or force. Such actions are used as leverage, to force the victim to act in the desired way. Coercion may involve the actual infliction of physical pain/injury or psychological harm in order to enhance the credibility of a threat. The threat of further harm may lead to the cooperation or obedience of the person being coerced. Torture is one of the most extreme examples of coercion i.e. severe pain is inflicted until the victim provides the desired information.

A society or a human society is (1) a group of people related to each other through persistent relations such as social status, roles and social networks. (2) A large social grouping that shares the same geographical territory and is subject to the same political authority and dominant cultural expectations. Human societies are characterized by patterns of relationships between individuals sharing a distinctive culture and institutions.

i made dinner

i need to shed some of me off - and i cant lose weight except if i cook - which is super, because's super - i like feeding (be-it feeding other people, or myself ...various things)

anyways - i went to the supermarket today, and stocked on veggies.
asparagus, coriander, onions, mushrooms, cheese

1. chop the onions and throw em in a pan with the coriander . when they beg for water, add some water..
2. look at them, they look hot. when they smell hotter than your fuck buddy(ies combined), add sliced mushrooms and some more water.. cook a bit - may the bit be little
3. grab a thing that can be put in the oven.. TEFAL would be a momma's choice - i used a lasagna thing made of pottery, because im cool
4. fill the bottom of the cool oven-able thing with a somewhat thick layer of asparagus
5. pour 1/2 the mushroom, onion, coriander mix over that layer
6. slice some kashkawan (diet kashkawan, if you're me) over that layer
7. cover the cheese layer with another thick layer of asparagus
8. pour the remaining mushonionder mix over the asparagus
9. slice more cheese over the top
10. insert in oven until the cheese browns a bit..or more than a bit

i would recommend an exclusively lettuce-based salad..olive oil, salt and lemon
sliced salted green tomatoes ..

ok, i lied. i typed OR ..but i made both..fed four..and they loved it. i loved it too. wine was missing..when you make it, have a bottle of wine..did i mean glass? no.

red. i like red wine.

3ala angham al samandal

is a cool title, for something amazingly dramatic - but what's gonna happen now is not so amazing, not so dramatic either .. but it's something - what's gonna happen is nothing. exactly. i just came back from a meeting,
ingredients: one engineer, one real estateman, one businessman, ..and little old me.
"mbosit bilyom, bukra an7as"
"ma tsadde2 7adan be2ellak el wade3 7a yet7assan"
"habibi, t3allam hal libnen - lezem ta3mol ma7kemtak el khassa - yelli msh 3ajbo, yetla3 barra - w yelli beddo yekol sha2fetak, fremo"

so technically, yea - that was a business meeting, on investing in some residential developments, whilst in the background (in my head) chanting to establishing my new studio thingy this month..and my book..etc, and that tonight i'll be drinking my ass off in beirut..well, etc does it, no?

not fun.
and they still expect me to want to start a family, and make bambinos, which ASLAN, i don't want..but - they're butchers..they are - what construct am i pitching into, and why is this mama-structure still expecting its offspring to invest in this poopoo-land.

so i text Matova, because i need help.. i mean - grown men talking about men who prove their manhood via jumping on banking desks and biting other men's ears is something that i find slightly unappealing

ME: so let's say we are investing bi libnen etc etc, who are we doing it for? #NEEDING #INCENTIVE etc
MATOVA: ourselves (and the very few who give a damn) :)
ME: ... still not worth it .. ghayro?
MATOVA: That's stage 1. If u get past this, then it would be everyone who thinks in lebo, and nonlebo lands

between us, i think he's a delusional freak in denial - sometimes we all are .. and i think that's why we'll all sink in, happily exhausted - sink and suffocate in our sweat, sweet sweat and dreams, of this promised land we are all busy constructing - on a nonchalant treadmill.

how #feiruz can pimp her concerto @abdallahelchami (draft)

After a while of nothingness, the diva decides it's time to feed the peasants. She walks, from her post-menopausal bathroom after she lit her cigarette after wiping her ass after her throwing used tissues and bud in the toilet and flushing - because, yes feiruz shits.

With her left hand, she rubs the dimmer switch turning it on very slowly, not to hinder her shying shadows as she parks in statue, on her pedestal - both self proclaimed and accepted in frozen awe - they all clap - they all clap - they all clap, in frozen awe, for she is gifting them with her statuesque - dramatic lebanese iconography at its best, odes to selves and acceptance of the mass.

The mass wants her, her all - her curtain costume..they want her to just stand there, and open her mouth in record breaking stagnancy, they want it but #fif can tickle my pickle if she wants to - and just fuck the fuck out of everything : )

1. Sings HannaElSekran while drinking a bottle of scotch
2. Covers Mat2olshiL7ad or honors Haifa
3. Move an inch in any direction
4. Smile
5. Request everyone to simultaneously snap a picture of her BB/iP - twit and tag #feiruz
6. Sings KhallikBilBayt naked
7. Commits suicide
8. Wears jeans and a t-shirt

to be continued .. *NO! PLEASE STOP!* ..sorry, duty calls

Trying #MicrosoftWord Blogging

So, will I like it? I'm not sure.. but spelling – my dear lovers – will be much better.

Blogpost OST by MarcCodsi

I broke a lock yesterday, and lit my site with my car off a cliff after a seven hour delay in concrete delivery and no projectors installed. It was fun. Seven packs of cigs, from 12.00 to 5.00 – then casting Slab 1 Block A to 105.5FM.

Today they finally signed my permit, to the chanting sound of a little fuck singing "ne7na ma 3anna banat" – a 3 year old, 3ars. But \\ they signed my permit, and for that – I'm happy. I'm fixing the office, packing things that have been there since I was 4..and preparing my own little massacre >pictures will be posted<

And yes .. my crack is still shining.
